In the studio today Marie asked us all to spend a couple of minutes writing down the things we enjoy about improvising. Here's mine:
Play, fun, jumping, leaping, flying. Tapping into something different. Being in my body and not having to move in a certain, normal, defensive way. Relating to others. Knowing people very well. Knowing people in a different way. Physical thrill, psychological thrill of performing. Letting my body take the lead. Something different from making decisions. Not being held back by the shortcut of language. Having a container. Being less responsible, no, more responsible - being responsible for different things. Letting my attention be very focused or very diffused in a way that's not normally possible. Being allowed, being an animal, being alive.
